Chiropractic for Pregnancy

Chiropractic care during pregnancy is important.  During pregnancy a mother’s body is changing rapidly in many ways.  Chiropractic can help her adapt appropriately and is an important part of a healthy and happy pregnancy.  In addition, chiropractic care throughout pregnancy aids in a faster and easier birth.  Postpartum the mother will continue to have rapid change in her body in addition to the additional stressors involved in infant care.  Many women reap the rewards of chiropractic as an important support during this time. Dr. Mays has special training in caring for women during the preconception, prenatal, and postpartum periods.

Dr. Mays specializes in perinatal chiropractic care.  Under her care during your pregnancy, the goals are to support you in your journey into motherhood by decreasing stressors you will undergo while your body changes and to prepare you for a healthy birth.  The ultimate goal during this precious nine months is to optimize your health so you can care for your baby now, during birth, and postpartum.

At Good Life Chiropractic, we utilize the Webster technique during all three trimesters.  The Webster technique is a chiropractic analysis and specific adjustment to restore proper neurobiomechanical function of the sacral/pelvic region.  Improper function in your pelvis may contribute to difficult labor for the mother because of decreased nervous function, pelvic misalignment, and tightening and torsion in ligaments and muscles. All of these problems may also prevent the baby from comfortably assuming his/her optimal birth position.  Research has shown that Webster technique during pregnancy leads to decreased fatigue, decreased pain, improved sleep, and improved social satisfaction!

Every woman deserves quality chiropractic care through each and every pregnancy.

Pediatric Chiropractic Care

There is so much potential in every child. Chiropractic care can help remove barriers so that your child can thrive at their optimal level. Dr. Mays is certified in chiropractic pediatrics through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and cares for children of all ages to help with healthy development and growth as well as clear the hurdle of various health challenges.

Why do babies need chiropractic care? Birth is hard work, and that’s not just for the mom! The forces that a tiny baby experiences during birth commonly lead to poor spinal function that the baby must then adapt around as they learn to use their bodies. Safe and gentle pediatric chiropractic care can help remove any barrier to optimal spinal function to promote healthy growth and development, setting up your child for a healthy life!  Dr. Mays has had extensive training in the field of chiropractic pediatrics. She has been caring for children for many years and has achieved her certification in chiropractic pediatrics (CACCP) from the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA)

When spinal function is less than optimal, the communication between brain and body is often compromised leading to various problems. Chiropractic care helps restore normal spinal and nervous system function and is a powerful way for parents to help their child heal naturally. Evidence has shown that children under chiropractic care experience a better quality of life, improved sleep, sunnier dispositions, and better immunity. Many parents bring their children to chiropractic care with health challenges such as: nursing issues, poor sleep, unexplained crying, chronic ear infections, colic, asthma, reflux, constipation, developmental delay, torticollis, headaches, and other problems and have been satisfied with the results.

Even if your child has no health challenges, they should be checked by a chiropractor. Chiropractic is a great way to keep the body functioning at a high level to prevent problems from developing as your child grows! You are invited to learn more about chiropractic for babies and children on the ICPA website.
